A: On the voter registration form, select "No Party" if you do not wish to enroll in a political party. You will remain an independent voter and will not be affiliated with any political party.

Q: If I register to vote, will the government be able to track me?
A: The information required to register—including your name, date of birth, address, citizenship status, New York DMV number and the last four digits of your Social Security number—is information that government agencies typically already maintain for other official purposes. After each election, the state records whether you voted, but not who you voted for. Your ballot is secret, and your choices are protected by law.
